Borrowing

Library card

A library card is needed in order to borrow library material. You can obtain a library card by showing a personal identification document containing your photo and providing the necessary contact information. If you are under the age of 18, a Kela Card without a photo is sufficient.

You can also register as a library customer using an online form, which requires authentication with bank credentials or a mobile certificate. The card can be collected from the library the next weekday.

A person under the age of 15 can receive a library card with the written consent of a guarantor. The guarantor can be a guardian or an adult responsible person.

The library card is personal. This also applies to self-use. The owner of the library card is responsible for the material borrowed on their card. The guarantor is responsible for the material borrowed on the library card of a person under 15 years of age, as well as for the use of other services, equipment and facilities of the library.

PIN code

You will need a four-digit PIN code when using the library’s online services and/or lending machines and self-service libraries. You can obtain the PIN code from the library when registering as a borrower or later after you have proved your identity. For security reasons, the PIN code is not given by email or phone. You can replace a forgotten PIN code via online service.
