How to use a self-service library
A self-service library is a library that you can visit even when the library staff is not available. In Pori, the self-service libraries are Lavia, Noormarkku, Pohjoisväylä, Reposaari and Vähärauma. The self-service hours can be found in the Satakirjasto online library.
You can access the self-service library with a library card and a PIN number. You can obtain the PIN code from the library staff.
- Show the barcode of your library card at the card reader outside of the library premises. If nothing happens, move the card further down so that the red line crosses the barcode.
- The reader asks for your PIN code. Key the four-digit number in the reader.
- The doors open to let you in the library.
- In case there is a problem, call the main library during opening hours, tel. 044 701 5815 / 044 701 5811.
Each customer logs in with their own card. Make sure that the door closes when you enter and leave the library. Guardians are allowed to let their children in the library during self-service hours.
There is recording camera surveillance in the premises. The beginning and end of the self-service hours are announced within the library.
What can you do in the library during self-service hours?
- Borrow and return items on the lending machine. The guided machine is easy to use.
- Pick up reserved items
- Read newspapers and magazines
- Study and work, use the computers and the wireless internet connection in the library.
- Host a meeting or a public event. Meetings and events must always be agreed in advance with the library.
