It is possible to organise an exhibition at the main library and many of the local libraries. Exhibitions may be organised by any individual person or community. In the main library exhibition spaces the duration of an exhibition is 2 to 3 weeks. In other exhibition spaces the duration may be shorter or longer.

The Pori main library exhibition spaces are located in the lobby, adults’ section and the children’s section. The exhibition sizes of local libraries are of different kinds and sizes. Applications for the main library lobby exhibition space are made twice a year using an electronic form. Requests concerning other exhibition spaces are directed to the section or library in question. Please find the contact information below.

There is a charge for using the main library lobby exhibition space. Bank holidays and other special opening hours are taken into account in pricing. Other library exhibition spaces are free of charge. The exhibitions must meet the ethical, quality and technical requirements of an exhibition on public display. Please note that the exhibitions are not supervised and that some of the libraries have self-service hours. The exhibits are not insured on behalf of the library.

Library exhibition spaces

The library exhibition spaces are listed below. We recommend that you explore the different space options when planning an exhibition in a library.

The main library exhibition spaces

  • You can organise an exhibition on portable walls in the adults’ section  free of charge. The black, two-sided portable walls have three panels each, and exhibits can be attached to them with drawing pins. An exhibition may consist of up to 12 surfaces of 70 cm in width and 150 cm in length. The exhibition period is one to four weeks.

  • The children’s section exhibition spaces are free of charge. Exhibiting artwork by children and young adults is the priority in these spaces. Artwork can be placed on portable walls, hanging rails and strings, and on top of bookshelves.

The wall in the fantasy corner is equipped with strings and hooks, it is 140 cm high from the string to the shelf, and the broader part is 640 cm wide while the narrower part is 170 cm wide.

Above the picture book shelves there are three strings on which work up to 60 cm high can be hung. The string lengths are 450 cm, 400 cm and 450 cm.

The assembly may begin at noon on a Monday and it must be disassembled by the last Monday noon of the exhibition period. The exhibition dates on advertisements must only include the complete days, that is, not the days of assembly and disassembly.

On request the library will collect books, magazines and music related to your exhibition and put them on display in connection with your exhibition. The exhibition must be limited in the space between the walls and the concrete pillars in front of the space in order to keep the passageways clear.

You can have an exhibition opening ceremony in front of the exhibition or reserve a suitable room, such as Seminaarihuone 1. The ceremony held at the exhibition space may not include structures for spectators nor a sound system, and the passageways must not be obstructed in any way. The library will provide a light sound amplifier, if necessary. Any catering will be arranged by the exhibitor.

Marketing of exhibitions

The library will promote the exhibitions through its own channels, that is, on the library website, on Facebook, in the exhibitions brochure, on the Satakirjastot online library and Satakunta Events calendar.

Send your promotional material by email to the contact person of the exhibition space in question. For promotion, we need the name of the exhibition, a short descriptive text of a few sentences about the exhibition, and a separate publishable horizontal image in jpg/png, without text.

The exhibitor can make a poster of the exhibition, which will be displayed together with the exhibition. A vertical A3 size works well for the poster. The poster can be printed by the library if required.

The exhibitor can promote the exhibition themselves, for example through social media and by contacting local media.
