Devices for Customer Use

Computers

There are computers with an internet connection and office productivity software for public use in the libraries. You can print both black and white and colour pages from the computers. 

Digitisation studio

In the digitisation studio, located on the upper floor of the main library, you can transfer VHS cassettes, c-cassettes, LP-records, photographs, slides and negatives to a digital format. An external floppy drive is also available for transferring the contents of old floppy disks to another format. You can make a reservation for the studio for up to four hours at a time online, at the upper floor customer service desk or by phone at 044 701 5823.

Hublets

You can borrow tablets at two locations in the main library: the young adults’ section on the ground floor and the magazine, newspaper and music section on the upper floor. In addition you can borrow tablets at Vähärauma and Pohjoisväylä libraries. You can borrow a tablet for up to two hours at a time with your library card and a PIN code. These tablets, or hublets, only function in the library premises. You can use the hublets for example for reading e-magazines or e-books or surfing the web.

Headphones

You can borrow headphones from the main library magazine, newspaper and music section for listening to music or playing the electrical piano in the upper floor music room. 

Photocopying, scanning and printing

All libraries (except the mobile library) have the devices available for copying, scanning and printing in black and white or in colour. A3-sized prints are only available in the main library. You can also print from your own device in the main library using the Princh program. Scanning documents is free of charge. You can check the fees for photocopies and prints in the tariff.

Lamination

A laminating machine for A4 and A3 sized pages is available for use in the main library adult section.

Microfilms and microcards

Old volumes of Satakunnan Kansa, Helsingin Sanomat and other newspapers as well as parish registers from Satakunta region are available in the library in microfilm format. Microfilm and micro card readers are located in the Tul ja tee multifunction room on the upper floor of the main library. You can also use a microfilm scanner that is connected to a computer to print copies and save documents for your own use. Paper shredder

A paper shredder is available for public use on the upper floor of the main library. You can dispose of a small amount of paper sheets using the shredder.

Game consoles

You can make a reservation in the main library game room to play Playstation 5 and Nintendo Switch games. There are various retro consoles also available. You can play Playstation console games in the main library children’s and young adults’ section and in Noormarkku library young adults’ section.

Tul ja tee multifunction room

Tul ja tee room on the upper floor in the main library hosts a 3D printer, a vinyl cutter, a heat press, a drawing table and versatile photo and video editing tools. You can make reservations for the devices online, by phone at 044 701 5823 or by e-mail at lehmus.kirjasto(@)pori.fi.
