3D printer and vinyl cutter
In the printer corner there is a 3D printer, a vinyl cutter and a heat press. With the 3D printer you can print models of your own or download them from the net. With the vinyl cutter you can make your own stickers to glue to various surfaces or directly to fabric with the heat press.

Using and making reservations
The Tul ja tee room is located on the upper floor of the main library. You can make a reservation online or at the main library magazine, newspaper and music section customer service. The multimedia corner is open during library opening hours from 10:00.
You can make a reservation on the computer free of charge for 3D modelling or sticker designing. A fee is charged for using the 3D printer and the vinyls. The price of 3D printing is 7 €/100 g. The price of vinyl sheets starts from 2€/sheet.
You can make a reservation for the printer corner for up to eight hours a day, no more than two times a week. You need a library card to use the printer corner. The booker of the printer corner must be over 18 years of age. The booker is responsible for the correct use of the corner. Please be prepared to prove your identity when you register. Please read the terms and conditions before making a reservation.
3D printing and modelling
The corner is equipped with an Ultimaker 3s 3D printer and Cura software for printing downloaded models or ones you create yourself with the Blender software installed on the computer. You can also use browser-based 3D modelling applications, like Tinkercad.
The printer uses PLA filament. Any support structures for printing will be of the same filament. An easily breakable joint is formed between the support structures and the main structure, enabling the neat separation of support and main structures.
Filament prints can be painted, like other plastic materials. You are not allowed to use your own filaments.
The price of 3D prints is 7 €/100 grams. 3D prints are not suitable for commercial use.
Vinyl cutting
The Roland Camm GS-24 vinyl cutter in the printer corner allows you to make stickers of nearly any shape. The vinyl cutter is run with a Roland Cut Studio software, which also allows you to draw your own shapes. The software recognises BMP, PNG, EPS and AI (NB! legacy format 8.0 or older) files, which you can upload in the software for cutting previously designed logos, shapes and drawings.
Vinyl sticker films and heat transfer films
The library sells many colours and shapes of vinyl sheets for glueing and for printing on fabric. The sheets are hand-cut, so the size may vary slightly. You can buy vinyl sheets from the magazine, newspaper and music section customer service on the upper floor of the main library.
The 3M Scotchcal 50 series adhesive sheets available in the library come in sizes 60×60 cm, 30×60 cm and 30x30cm, and the Stahls Cad-Cut Sportsfilm thermal transfer sheets for printing come in sizes 50×50 cm, 25×50 cm and 25×25 cm. The range of colours available may vary, but black, white, red, blue and yellow are available at all times. It is not possible to print images on vinyl sheets.
Sheet prices:
- 60×60 and 50×50 cm 8 €/sheet
- 30×60 and 25×50 cm 4 €/sheet
- 30×30 and 25×25 cm 2 €/sheet
Please note that the pinch rollers of the vinyl cutter take up part of the cutting area, so the cut area is smaller than the sheets.
Using your own vinyl films
Using your own vinyl films is possible but not recommended. There are vinyl films for a variety of different uses, and not all cutter blades are suited for all materials. The films may require specific cutter settings. The library is not responsible for the compatibility of the film purchased by the user and the cutter or for any damage caused to the film purchased by the user.
The library vinyl cutter uses a 0,25 mm Roland ZEC-U1005 cutting blade.
Heat press
The printer corner of the Tul ja tee room is equipped with a Stahls Clam Basic heat press, with a 38×38 cm pressing plate. The size of the plate also determines the maximum size of the thermal film transferred at one time. The heat press will attach a cut sticker to fabric. The heat press is suitable for most materials.
Heat pressing is not recommended on softshell, 100% nylon fabrics, rainwear or leather garments.
The library is not responsible for any damage to printed fabrics. Not for commercial use.
